Meet the Founder

Maddie

Hello hello! I’m the one who’s been behind the camera for the past 7 years, and likely the one hyping you up before you even know you need it. I’m so happy you’re here.

Photography, for me, has never been about perfect poses or picture-perfect moments. It’s about how it felt to be there. The in-between glances, the way someone reaches for your hand without thinking, the quiet kind of love that doesn’t need direction. Providing proof you were here on this earth.

Over the years, I’ve learned that the best photos don’t come from knowing what to do, they come from feeling comfortable enough to just be. That’s where I come in. My approach is calm, intuitive, and gently guided when needed, but always rooted in creating space for you to show up as yourself. No pressure.

You can expect a session that feels easy. A good amount of movement, a lot of laughter, and moments that unfold naturally. I’ll step in when I need to, step back when I don’t, and quietly notice the things you didn’t even realize were worth remembering.

I feel incredibly lucky to do this work, to be trusted with people’s stories in such an honest, personal way.

And Honey & Oak?
That part is home.

Named after my husband, Mathew (my “Honey”), and our sweet pup Oakley who recently passed, it’s a reflection of the life that shaped me - the one that taught me to pay attention to the small, meaningful moments. The kind I now get to preserve for you.

  • At Honey and Oak Photography, I offer wedding, engagement, family, maternity, newborn, and branding photography. My work is rooted in connection and storytelling, whether I’m documenting a wedding day or a quiet moment at home with your family.

  • I’m based in Woodstock, Ontario and serve all of Oxford County, as well as surrounding areas like Kitchener-Waterloo, London, and beyond. I’m always open to travel! Whether that’s within Ontario or for destination weddings

    (discounts available for following Wedding locations! Scotland, Ireland, Italy, Paris, Norway, Iceland, British Columbia, London UK, Japan, New Zealand)

  • Honestly, the thing I hear most from people after a session is how comfortable they felt.

    A lot of my clients come in a little nervous or unsure of what to do, and my job is to guide you through it in a way that feels easy and natural not forced or overly posed. I’ll gently direct when needed, but I’m also paying attention to the in-between moments where the real connection shows up.

    By the end of the session, most people leave feeling genuinely excited not just about the photos, but about how the experience actually felt.

    That’s always the goal: photos that feel like you, and a session that you actually enjoy being part of.

  • You’re not alone!! Most people feel this way at first. I’ll guide you in a way that feels natural and easy, without forcing anything. The best photos usually happen when we are moving and all the in-between moments, and I’ll help create space for those to happen.

  • If we’re planning an outdoor session and the weather isn’t ideal, we’ll either make the call to risk it or reschedule to a new date that works for both of us.

    Sometimes leaning into the rain, or fog or high winds create such beautiful imagery, so it can 100% be worth the risk but I am always here to work with you.

  • Definitely! Whether you have a full vision or no idea where to start, I’m happy to help with location suggestions, overall feel, and making sure everything comes together in a way that feels natural and aligned with you.

H&O Cancellation Policy

I understand that circumstances may require you to cancel your session with me. I strive to provide a fair and transparent cancellation policy. Please see the options below if you need to cancel.

  1. Full Payment: If you have paid the full amount for your shoot, and you need to cancel, you will be eligible for a refund of 50% of the total amount paid. The remaining 50% will be retained by Honey and Oak as a cancellation fee.

  2. 50% Retainer: If you have made a 50% retainer for your shoot, this retainer is considered non-refundable and will not be returned to you
